performer's guide

the concert

WHAT TO BRING
- Instrument & accessories
- Sheet music (unless you're quirky!! and memorized your music)
- Music stand (optional)
- Mask (optional)
WHEN TO ARRIVE
Any time around 15 to 30 minutes before the concert starts is a good time to come, as you might want to warm up or get ready. The concert directors will try to get there 30 minutes early, so you’ll likely find someone there.

WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear a white dress shirt and black pants, or a black dress. If you don't have these, it's okay! Just be sure to wear something formal that keeps you covered. Dress shoes are recommended as well!

WHEN TO LEAVE
You can honestly go right after your performance! We do recommend you to stay for the post-concert photos, though, since we do use it as evidence of volunteer hours!

service hours
Counting Volunteer Hours
Each performer gets 4 hours per concert, and 6 if they've played in 2+ performances, no matter how unhinged your piece is or how long you practiced. If you feel these service hours don’t accurately reflect how much blood, sweat, and tears you poured into mastering your piece, feel free to appeal to a concert director.
Verifying Volunteer Hours
Service hours verification contacts will normally be an admin from the senior home you've performed at. If you've been to multiple, you can pick one of the contacts to verify your hours!
faqs
Let us know in the discord if you have any other questions!
Q: Can I make changes to my registration after I've already submitted the form?
A: If you need to change something in your sign up, contact a concert director over Discord and they’ll fix it for you! Just be sure to let them know at least a week before the performance!

Q: Can I play non-classical music?
A: Hell yeah! Feel free to play that one anime opening that got stuck in your head this morning. In fact, the more variety, the better!

Q: My accompanist can't make it, what do I do?
A: No worries! Let us know if you need accompaniment. We will always bring a Bluetooth speaker, so if you wish for accompaniment, we can have it play during your performance.

Q: Are there any requirements for me to sign up?
A: Musicians from all ages are welcome to join! Just make sure to let your teacher know, so you can best prepare for performing it!
